Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Scheme of GoI

Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme was started by the Government of India on 1st January 2013 with the aim of reforming the Government delivery system of welfare schemes to enable direct transfer of welfare schemes to the beneficiaries bank accounts. This has enabled faster delivery of welfare schemes while cutting on corruption and malpractices being encountered in the previous methods of delivery of the welfare schemes.

Jan Dhan accounts, Aadhar Cards, and Mobile, popularly known as JAM are the primary enablers of the DBT scheme as they provide a good framework and infrastructure to implement the DBT effectively.
